Austin, United States Itinerary: 3 Perfect Days

Austin runs on two things: live music and good food, and three days is the right amount to sample both without rushing. This plan spreads the core experiences — the swimming holes, the food trucks, the honky-tonks — across three neighbourhoods so you're never stuck in traffic on I-35.

Best time to visit

March to May and September to early November bring the best balance of warm days and outdoor comfort. July and August are reliably hot, while March also hosts SXSW (book accommodation far in advance if you're visiting then).

Getting around

Downtown, South Congress and East Austin are walkable or a short ride away. The Capital Metro bus covers most of the city, and rideshares are quick between neighbourhoods; a car only earns its keep for day trips to the Hill Country.
